Barry the Baker, has been baking and decorating for over 40 years in various bakeries. This is in addition to running the bakery department at Lehigh University for 13 years, before opening The Bakery Nook. Step into our quaint little bakery and the first thing you’ll notice is the wonderful aroma. The scent of cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, and other flavors comes from our shop. You can even smell it from our parking lot. Once inside, your head will spin with all the delicious baked goods you can choose from. We bake in the old world German and Hungarian style with old family recipes. Our team bakes with real butter, fresh eggs, and the finest ingredients. Our customers tell us we have the best cakes and pastries around. Some of them have been customers for more than 30 years. So come on in and savor the aroma! Meet Our Team
Barry Kuntz – Owner
Baking and decorating cakes since 1977, Barry started his training at LCVTS during High School. He developed his skills at various retail and supermarket bakeries. Similarly, he managed the bakery department at Lehigh University for 13 years. Barry started the Bakery Nook in 1998. Since then, he has devoted his considerable skill and knowledge to providing top quality baked goods and superior customer service.
Darlene Kuntz – Owner
Darlene handles the administrative and customer service aspects of the bakery. Having worked in retail situations for many years, Darlene is great with the customers. She provides friendly service with helpful advice. All while offering helpful suggestions quickly with a smile and laugh.
Mary Inhoff – Head Baker / Production Manager
Mary has been baking delicious treats for friends and family for many years. Before coming to bake for us at “The Nook”, she operated her own bakery business, “Rebecca’s”, for 10 years. She is responsible for the production and baking of all of our delectable baked goods. A great friend and amazing baker, she is like Barry’s right arm.
Katie-Lynn Wachter – Head Decorator
Our Head Decorator, Katie-Lynn, is also a 2012 graduate of LCTI and Parkland High School, she placed 2nd at FCCLA (Family Career & Community Leaders of America) state competition and she competed at the skills USA district competition. Katie-Lynn is a very talented artist, drawing beautiful detailed artwork on our cakes. She can also create wonderful fondant decorations for our special occasion cakes.
Kevin Hoderman – Decorating Team
Having been baking and decorating cakes since the 70s, Kevin operated his own home based business for a time. Kevin brings a taste of the old school flair and finesse to our decorating team. Crafting beautiful wedding cakes and intricately decorated occasion cakes as well as specialty desserts for our showcases are his specialty.
Jodi Oberto – Head Dishwasher
Head Dishwasher Jodi comes to us from the VIA program for special needs people. She helps us by washing dishes, folding boxes and other odd jobs around the bakery. Always ready with a smile and a hug.
Andrew Everett – Baker
Baker Andrew came to us as a job shadow student and did so well we hired him. Andrew does anything needed from baking and mixing product to decorating cakes. He is a competition winner at Skills USA District Competition and FCCLA.
